We encourage our members to develop their skills and compete in competitions at club, county, national and international levels but we recognise that many shooters are quite happy to simply enjoy some time on the range. We don't require that you shoot competitively and there is no problem if you want to shoot for another club while also being a member of Downshire.
There is a full range of competitions shot for pistol and rifle both winter and summer. These competitions are a combination of one-off club events, open competitions - that is open to shooters from other clubs, and postal competitions hosted by the Northern Ireland Smallbore Shooting Association (NISSA) or the National Smallbore Rifle Association (NSRA).
The Club encourages junior shooters under the age of 18 and has a programme of assistance/ training for these members in the prone rifle discipline.
